Running 4 Memories' first race is Jekyll Island was a HUGE success. Jekyll Island provided a beautiful backdrop for our kickoff race of 2024! The team spent the day leading up to the race exploring the island on bikes and celebrated after by eating some of the coast's best seafood. I enjoyed catching up with two of my oldest friends who signed up to help get the Running 4 Memories journey started.
A New Personal Record!
Throughout our 13.1 miles, we were surrounded by Jekyll's amazing landscape. The race course led us through both protected marshland and famous Driftwood Beach, while the weather couldn't have been better for a long run. While I'd planned to enjoy this first race at a reasonable pace, competitors compete and my friends and I pushed each other to my new Personal Record, 9 years after my first half marathon (a proud moment I did not expect!)
The Donations are Rolling In
Finally, I can't express my gratitude to all of you who have already made donations to Running 4 Memories and the Alzheimer's Association. In just two weeks of fundraising, we've collected over $2,000!! We are well on our way to reaching our goal of $10,000 for the year. Thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU!!
See You in February
We continue to reflect on this memorable weekend and are looking forward to Race 2 in Seaside, FL. See everyone on February 18th!
